Presented in 1962 by René Bonnet and Charles Deutsch, the Matra Djet was the very first mid-engine production automobile. Powered by Renault’s 70 bhp, 1,100 cc Cléon-Fonte engine and wrapped in slippery fibreglass bodywork, the Djet was a ground-breaking car that preceded the DeTomaso Vallelunga, the Ferrari 250 LM, the ATS 2500 GT, and the Lamborghini Miura. In 1965, the French aerospace company Matra (Méchanique Aviation Traction) acquired René Bonnet Automobiles Company and continued to produce the Djet until 1968. In these years it proved to be a great sports car, ideal as a first choice by many aspiring professional drivers.

This Matra Djet V5 is one of the last produced, and it is offered here in a very attractive classic French Blue livery. Clube de Automόveis Clássicos da Madeira documents show that the car has been in Portugal since at least 2002, and it would be a thrilling addition to any collection.

Equipado com o motor Renault Cléon-Fonte de 1100 cc e 70 cv, e envolvido numa esguia carroçaria em fibra de vidro, o Djet era um automóvel inovador, que antecedeu o DeTomaso Vallelunga, o Ferrari 250 LM, o ATS 2500 GT, e o Lamborghini Miura. Em 1965, a companhia aeroespacial francesa Matra (Méchanique Aviation Traction) adquiriu a pequena firma René Bonnet Automobiles Company e continuou a produzir o Djet até 1968. Durante esse período, mostrou ser um excelente desportivo, ideal como primeira escolha de muitos aspirantes a piloto profissional.

Este Matra Djet V5 é um dos últimos produzidos, oferecido aqui numa com azul French Blue muito atraente. Documentação do Clube de Automόveis Clássicos da Madeira mostram que está em Portugal desde, pelo menos, 2002. Seria um entusiasmante reforço para qualquer coleção.
