The Fiat Dino was a collaboration between Fiat and Ferrari allowing Fiat to gain a prestige model and enabling Ferrari to qualify its twin-cam Dino V-6 for Formula II racing. Offered in both coupé and spider body styles, the spider was designed by Pininfarina for 1966, while the Bertone-designed coupé arrived a year later. Engineering was by Fiat, while both coachbuilders produced the monocoque body and chassis.
This restored example was delivered by Fiat in July 1970. It is one of 744 produced for the model year. While the majority of this car’s history is unknown, it resided in Germany while in the possession of two previous owners. According to the consignor who has owned it since 2011, it was allegedly owned by world rally champion Armin Schwarz. It currently has historic license approval in Germany.
The car, including the interior and wood trim, was restored prior to his purchase. The consignor refreshed the car between 2012 and 2015, commissioning a bare-metal repaint in Giallo Dino. At the same time, the body was preserved with cavity wax, the brakes, clutch, tyres, and battery were renewed, and modern seat belts were installed. It is said to be in good condition, with great torque for everyday use, and pleasant to drive.
