Theofiel Mortier, S.A. (Antwerp, Belgium)

This magnificent dance organ is an exceptional example of Art Deco styling of the period, a showpiece by the world-famous firm of Theofiel Mortier, which manufactured some of its most extraordinary instruments in the first half of the 20th century. This particularly large and impressive instrument features about 400 pipes, with accordions, saxophones and a large drum set for both visual and musical appeal. It was expanded to the 112-key scale by Roy Haning and Neal White while in their collection, was later in the Sanfilippo and Brown Collections and was acquired by the Milhous Collection in 1996. It was restored by Johnny Verbeeck in Belgium, and it plays both 112-key cardboard books and from a digital MIDI system. Over a half-dozen large books and a library of MIDI files are included. 312x144x84 inches.
