1939 DKW Autounion NZ500 early 500cc Model. Largest displacement of the DKW Auto Union motorcycle line of the late 30's. All original, complete ready to show or add to collection. The most advanced motorcycle of it's time. Largest engine out put (500cc) in the early military version. Great early War German brand.

History: During the 1930's the DKW's name needed no advertising, most of Germany's greatest riders belonged to DKW's international race team. A wonderfully designed 250cc machine, participant in the 1938 TT races, rode by the famous for the time rider Ewald kluge, achieved record-top-speed of 183.2 km/h. Ewald Kluge was the top DKW rider in these pre-war years, who won the European Championship in 1938 and 1939. Racing experience gave DKW the lead in the two-stroke technology world-wide. DKW was the largest brand not only in the German Reich but in the world. In 1932 the company merged with Auto union, composed of DKW. Audi, Horch and Wanderer car makers. Post-war DKW later became MZ, them more recently Hercules while retaining the DKW name because of it's reputation.
