1966 was a banner year in racing for Triumph.Vietnam was still considered a distant war in some far off little country.Young men were buying and riding these powerful twin carb machines as the Japanese were biting at the heels of the worlds motorcycle manufacturers who found them selves fighting to retain an ever decreasing hold on the market.Bob Leppan's streamliner the Gyronaut X1 with two 650 Triumph engines set a new US record at 245.6 mph but it was not officially recognized by the FIM as engine size was limited to 1000cc.American Buddy Elmore wins Daytona 200 on a works prepared Tiger 100 - Triumphs first Daytona road race victory - at an average speed of 155.5 KMH (96.6 mpg)

A stellar year for Triumph. This beautiful example sat on display for over 40 years.A numbers matching bike that has undergone a complete mechanical and cosmetic restoration. This T120 Bonneville leaves little to the imagination.1966 was a year of speed, style and performance.
