Available in gray only, these motorcycles soon became known as the "Silent Gray Fellow", In reference to its color and how quietly they ran. Harley Davidson was more than willing to claim in its advertising that the 1912 models were the "Cleanest, most silent, comfortable, and economical motorcycle of its time. All moving parts requiring oil were enclosed. The machines were offered in four single cylinder models with various horsepower and two V Twin engines. Both chain and belt drive were available. They were priced from $200 to $285. The X8A models were equipped with the 4 HP version of the single cylinder engine with magneto ignition, full floating seat and free wheel control (Belt drive). This particular machine offered has been AMCA judged a 1st place winners circle machine. Fully operative, easy starting and excellent running and riding motorcycle. The bike underwent a full restoration in the late 80's, and is said to have had only three to four owners since 1912. This bike is sure to please the most discriminating collector.
