The principal advantage of the XK150 over the previous XK140 was the four-wheel Dunlop disc brakes, but the car had evolved into much more of a grand tourer, with wind-up windows, a wider body, a curved one-piece windshield, more comfortable seats, and a better heater. The profile was generally softened, the fender line did not dip as much, and the larger grille was very similar to the 2.4- and 3.4-litre Mark 1 sedans.

Searching for more performance, the XK150S was announced. Thanks to a Harry Weslake-designed cylinder head and high-compression pistons, power increased to 265 horsepower—the same as the 5.3-litre V-12 that was available 13 years later. There were three 2-inch SU carburettors, and 0–60 mph could be reached in little over seven seconds. XK150 production totalled 9,395 examples between 1957 and 1961, and of 2,263 XK150 roadsters produced, only 888 examples were equipped with the 3.4-litre “S” engine.

This example, chassis T820048 DN, has been fully restored in the UK by Jaguar marque specialists. It is exquisitely finished in the most attractive colour combination of Midnight Blue with red leather interior. To be truly appreciated, this ultimate specification Jag must be thoroughly inspected, where its even panel gaps, excellent paint application, and near-flawless interior can be examined. The subtle, dark colour of this XK150 is enhanced by the presence of chrome wire wheels shod in blackwall tyres, as well as correct-style Lucas fog lamps; it is also equipped with a radio for extra enjoyment while on long drives.

T820048 DN has been recently maintained by marque specialists CKL, with the instruction to do whatever was necessary to put the car in perfect working order. With its very rare combination of right-hand drive, 3.4S specification, and being an open top sports example, it will be a jewel in any significant collection of Jaguars.
