• Three owners from new, the last since 1959

• Rare and elegant Sedanca de Ville in complete and original condition

This rare, original Rolls-Royce Sedanca de Ville was recently discovered, having been garaged for many years. A car is only original once and this grand example may well present its new custodian with the tricky dilemma of whether to preserve or to fully restore.

This particular Gurney Nutting body made such an impact when introduced that orders for this style were placed by a number of notables, including three sons of King George V: The Prince of Wales, later the Duke of Windsor, the Duke of York, later King George VI, and the Duke of Kent. The car has an extremely handsome and attractive body with a fully louvered bonnet and bulkhead, twin side-mounted spares, and a luggage trunk on the rear, giving it length, presence, and a stately appearance.

Chassis 3TA was originally delivered to H.R. Owen and sold in 1934 to its first owner, Gordon Padley, of London W1. It then passed on to another Central London resident, Mr S.J. Passmore, who kept the car until the late-1950s, selling it to W.F. Watson in 1959. Today, 3TA is being sold by the daughter of the late owner, who was a prominent figure in the Rolls-Royce Enthusiasts’ Club as well as the Rolls-Royce Twenty Club, having been the owner of numerous important examples during his lifetime. It will certainly need full re-commissioning and a complete mechanical rebuild to make it safe and reliable; however, the overall condition is that of a solid, highly original, and complete motor car.
