1932 Miss America X

1:12 scale by Gian Hien Wood Boat Models. Made in Vietnam

This stunning 32 inch long hand crafted model, replicates the last of Garfield Arthur (Gar Wood's) legendary Miss America’s.

Through extensive research this model has been built by a group of highly experienced craftsmen using the traditional technique of plank-on-frame construction and taking up to one hundred hours to complete. The mirror like finish is the result of twelve individual coats of clear, which were each wet sanded and polished until the lead craftsman was satisfied. All the materials used in the construction have been carefully selected and prepared, from the seasoned hard-woods to the chrome plated brass fittings, and hand-stitched leather upholstery.

The four massive engines in front of the two pilots are very well detailed as is the facia with gauges in front of the seats.

Miss America X was powered by four(4) Packard V12, 2490cubic inch engines, tuned to give 1600hp each. Gar Wood and his faithful mechanic and crew chief Orlin Johnson took Miss America X to the River Canal of the St. Clair River, Michigan and on 20th September 1932 raised the Water Speed Record to 124.91 mph.

The model comes with a black lacquered stand as shown, and with its original box and foam inserts.
