Stanley Wanlass

Bronze mounted on a marble base

Dimensions: 4 x 11 x 8 in.

Created to commemorate the centennial of the Benz Patent-Motorwagen, the first modern production automobile, which entered production in 1886. This bronze by sculpture by Stanley Wanlass features the symbolic “Spirit of Mercedes” leading the way forward for the famous German marque—and the automotive world more broadly. Mercédès Jellinek, daughter of automotive entrepreneur Emil Jellinek, lent her name to the storied marque, which was introduced by Daimler in 1901 and became Mercedes-Benz in 1926.
