When the Harley-Davidson Fat Boy model was introduced in 1990, it was only available in grey. All the main components, including the frame, were painted that color, as designed by Willie G. Davidson. Thin, yellow pinstriping picked out significant design elements.

The Fat Boy differed from its predecessors by offering a number of options not previously available on a production bike. It was fitted with FLH-style handlebars, alloy disc wheels, shotgun exhausts, a hand-stitched leather seat, and a tank-mounted instrument panel. Only 1,440 Fat Boys were sold in 1991, so this low-mile, first-year model is quite collectible. It’s also worth noting that a lot of these styling cues have been picked up by other designers in the past 20 years, but many originated with the Fat Boy.
