125 hp, 499 cc two-stroke three-cylinder engine.

After giving up on the oval-piston engine NR 500 in 1981, Honda bounced back with the unconventional three-cylinder, two-stroke NS 500. American Freddie Spencer won Honda its first 5,000-cubic centimeter World Championship in 1983, despite giving away 10 horsepower to his four-cylinder rivals.

A handful of RS 500R triples were sold to privateers in 1984, as Honda tinkered with the V-4 that would carry Spencer to a second title in 1985. Very few triples were sold, and this bike has a storied competition record in the hands of Ron Haslam, Reinhold Roth, and Karl Truchsess.

The bike offered by Altinier Motorsports is presented in Honda Works colors, with updated parts that include a superior Bakker frame, larger wheels and brakes, and upside-down front forks. Whether to be vintage raced or admired in a collection, it is an important part of MotoGP history.
