These Tornado Racers have a knob at the rear that, when pumped 50 times, would generate enough thrust in the engine to propel the car across a room. A lucky tyke in Hamilton, Ohio purchased one of these new in 1948 for $4.95, a fair sum at that time for a toy. However, the ingenious technology that enables these racers to zoom off on their own made them worth every penny- then and now.
