Produced in Utica, New York from 1903 to 1905, the Buckmobile was introduced at the New York Automobile Show at Madison Square Garden in January 1903. The New York Sun newspaper related that the Buckmobile was considered a sensation. Its builders forwarded the idea that its “peculiar buckboard design” was responsible for a wonderful ride. The Sunset Avenue factory in Utica initially had the capacity to produce two cars per week, but the warm reception the car received at the New York show indicated an expansion was called for. By September, plant expectations and additions raised the capacity to a car a day, but the Buckmobile team had overextended themselves and never recovered.

This 1903 Buckmobile Model D Runabout Replica is truly an excellent recreation of the early automobile. The right-hand drive Buckmobile is powered by a single-cylinder, 15-hp engine; it has a tufted single bench-style seat, wood spoke wheels, blackwall tires and brass accents with the wheel center caps, radiator shell, side-seat grab bars, cowllights and headlights. A storage box appears to be mounted behind the seat.
