"The best of the best," so it was, according to Kip Wasenko, GM Performance Design Director. Zora Arkus-Duntov's heartfelt desire for a mid-engine Corvette concept is exquisitely captured in the handcrafted custom “V7 Twin Turbo.” Purpose built to theoretically take on the Ferrari's, Porsche's and Ford GT 40's of the era; this custom Corvette did not actually compete against these iconic cars in period on any racetrack - however, it is styled and built in the spirit of this exciting time in motorsports.

The car was brilliantly conceived where the iconic 1963 split-window coupe has been passionately resculpted and shaped with swooping lines and a breathtaking alternative style. The new cab forward design allows the engine to be viewed through the original rear windows openings. In the pattern of numerous Ferrari models, it is simply stunning automotive architecture. Stretching the rear quarters understandably forms functional air intakes that aid in cooling and help provide aero ground effects.

The Corvette is reported as being “pure in form, real in function.” Entering the cockpit is handled by an industry first "suislide" articulating door system that exhibits absolutely jaw-dropping geometry. Leather wraps the original Sting Ray dash humps equipped with Auto Meter gauges. The cabin is fitted with race-style seating from Cobra with full Crow harness system. Conveniences include power windows, heater and air conditioning. The car was purpose built with audio system delete, as the twin turbos “spooling up” is all that is thought you need to enjoy when it comes to audio variations.

The technical side of the V7 is also reported as “amazing.” The custom tube dual ladder frame forms the base. Penske Racing supplied the fully adjustable suspension. Completing the chassis are gigantic six-piston Baer brakes with cross-drilled rotors. All this rolls on custom HRE wheels clad with Michelin's widest production-based rubber. This car is also stated to feature a Hot Rod Magazine project engine that is “literally blueprinted to the max.” The Chevrolet LS twin turbo V-8 engine dynos at 1,000-hp and 915-lb/ft of torque. This power unit is mated to a custom built Mendeola transaxle and Master Shift paddles.

Any travel can be undertaken in a most rapid manner. The V7 prototype is reported to launch from 0- to 60-mph in less than three seconds. It is promoted as being brutally fast, sexy and artistically engineered; it is considered as a welcoming to the “American supercar world.”

It is further reported as the winner of the automotive industry's coveted GM Design Award. The V7 has attained the credentials of 21st century automotive art. Museum level quality and endless details make the V7 Twin Turbo a most collectable Corvette. “Rarely does a car move so many emotionally. Rarely does a car have this much soul.” GM's Design Director said it best. "The Corvette Duntov would have been built to win Le Mans; exquisite execution, sensuous lines, amazing details, the V7 is the finest I have ever seen. The best of the best."
