The 1965 model year marked the third year of the second generation (C2) Corvette. The “shark gills” behind the front wheels were now fully functional, helping to vent the engine bay and, in turn, cool the engine. This year four-wheel disc brakes became standard equipment, which allowed for quick and reliable stopping power.

Offered here is a 1965 Corvette that was cosmetically restored in 2005 and features the L78 big-block 396-cid, 425-hp V-8 engine that is matched to a four-speed manual transmission. The sleekly styled fiberglass body is finished in Code GG, Glen Green. The hood for the big-block engine was distinctive by having a stylized clearance “blister.” The car is riding on cast aluminum knock-off wheels with gold line tires. Total Corvette production for 1965 was 23,562 cars, with 15,376 convertibles and 8,186 coupes. The total number receiving the L78 engine, such as is in this car, is listed as 2,157 from the same reliable source; quite uncommon indeed.
