Offered here is a rarely seen Cupelle two-seater motorcar, which shows lovely design and craftsmanship that was very much desired when automobiles were first being produced in the 20th century.

The car dates to the French factory of Lacoste et Battman in Paris. They preferred not to sell cars under their own name. Instead, they delivered cars with specifications to "other factories" (French and English) who named them. Lacoste et Battman cars can be 1903 Napoleon, 1903 Regal, 1903 Gamage, 1904 Speedwell, 1905 Cupelle, 1905-06 Jackson, 1907 Lacoba and 1910 Simplicia. This car has an accompanying tag showing it as English.

The car is finished in off-white with matching spoke wheels, large flowing fenders and is highlighted by brass driving lamps, bulb horn and trim elements. The engine is an 8-hp, liquid-cooled single cylinder engine and is pleasantly detailed with a copper fuel tank and copper lines. The upholstery of the car is shown with black button-tufted seats, along with a dark stained wood floor. The rear of the car has a convenient area for stowage that is almost speedster-like in design and also has brass trim on its perimeter.

This Lacoste & Battman Cupelle is a factory original, extensively and painstakingly restored in the 1950s.
