In the late 1960s Citröen purchased Maserati intending to utilize the Italian company’s engine expertise within the French automaker’s line of cars. The model SM brought this idea to fruition and, by 1972, the SM was a capable enough GT car that Motor Trend awarded it “Car of the Year” status. Pairing a Maserati V-6 engine to the front-wheel-drive chassis and wrapping it all in an aerodynamic futuristic body brought rave reviews from all corners. You definitely won’t see yourself coming and going in the SM.
