In 1937, Ray Dietrich was still in charge of styling and the cars bore his imprint by adopting a rounded curve theme. Chrysler’s six-cylinder line was named Royal this model year, the official name being the Series C-16. These cars had all new styling combined with a shorter chassis, although the cars had an appearance of being longer due to Dietrich’s re-proportioning of the hood and body lengths. The grille and front moldings had been distinctively restyled and particular pieces carried around to the hood sides. Bullet-shaped headlights were mounted on the front fenders. New features included built-in windshield defroster vents, fully insulated body mountings and safety padding on the back of the front seats.

This beautiful maroon 1937 Chrysler Royal has a tan convertible top and a red leather interior. It is very rare, being one of 642 produced and one of 14 known to still exist. Power comes from a 250-cid inline six-cylinder mated to a three-speed manual transmission with overdrive. It starts readily and is a great driver. It has a working factory-installed radio, overdrive that functions perfectly and fender skirts. This car was awarded an AACA National First Prize in 1974 and remains in almost perfect condition. It displays a marvelous patina along with a very solid mechanical condition.
