In 2017, Nike collaborated with Drake’s Toronto-based October’s Very Own (“OVO”) label to release the Air Jordan VIII OVO ‘Calipari’ Pack which featured two pairs in opposing colorways ‘Home’ and ‘Away’. Drake named the sneakers in homage to the University of Kentucky basketball coach John Calipari. Calipari had previously served as the head coach at the University of Memphis during a time where Drake spent much of his youth in Memphis.

Coach Calipari showed off a signed version of the sneaker pack during an interview with Complex, citing the pairs as some of the most important in his collection. He also went into further detail on his close relationship with Drake, mentioning that he attended his High School graduation ceremony and Drake even has a bedroom reserved specifically for Coach Calipari in his massive Toronto mansion.

The two colorways, named ‘Home’ and ‘Away, both feature a soft textured ‘jumpman’ logo on the tongue with Kentucky blue details throughout the sneaker. This pair features black premium leather with the OVO owl logos on the heel loop and sockliner. Considered one of only 80 ever made, the Nike Air Jordan VIII OVO ‘Calipari’ is a rare and unique addition to any collection.
