After the 356C debuted in 1964, Porsche’s next model, the 911, was already on Ferdinand Porsche’s drawing board. The new Porsche remained rear-engined with a unit-body chassis but a smooth two-liter, air-cooled flat six replaced the four-cylinder, which was mated to a four- or five-speed all-synchromesh transmission. The 911 was introduced at the Frankfurt Auto Show in September 1963, meeting all the criteria set out by Dr. Porsche. It resembled the previous model but was more powerful, smoother, quieter, and still had more space for passengers and luggage than its predecessor. The 911’s ageless design that has remained remarkably unchanged right up to the current 991 generation.

The high performance 911S model appeared in 1967, as well as the attractive lightweight “Fuchs” five-spoke alloy wheels. The more economical “E” and 911 “T” variants joined the “S” in 1968 and in 1969; the wheelbase increased 2.24 inches to a total of just over 89 inches. By 1972, the US specification T had a 2.4-liter engine and mechanical fuel injection.

This T has recently been restored and is finished in its original color combination of Gemini Blue Metallic over black interior with houndstooth seat inserts. The odometer shows 77,555 miles and the engine and transmission are original to the car. The optional comfort package and electric sunroof add to the enjoyable driving experience. Importantly, the original owner’s manual, toolkit, and Porsche Certificate of Authenticity are included with the sale.
