The 1949 model year brought a completely new look for the “Forty-Niner.” It was said to have appeared as a “dream-car silhouette”. Ford went down a new path from the past, from top-to-bottom and throughout the interior. It was the amalgamation of numerous new features that the customers were looking for. The interior, when it was new, had been described as a “living room on wheels.” Spacious seating was not only intended to please passengers, but the driver as well, giving them a sense of freedom on the road.

This vehicle underwent a body-on restoration three years ago. A high-gloss, five-stage metallic flake gold paint job contrasts well with its red carpet, waffle pattern seats with a matching headliner and trunk. There is also a custom child seat included.

A 302-cid V-8 has been modified with cylinder-head work and a mild cam has been installed. The transmission is a Ford C4 three-speed heavy-duty automatic with a Lokar floor-shifter. The rear end is a stock 4.10:1 gear ratio, and the braking system has been upgraded to 10-inch power drum brakes on all four wheels. The owner states that the stock hydra coil springs are there, but a police version sway bar and better shocks were installed. A Champion custom aluminum radiator with an electric fan for better cooling. This is a uniquely built custom, and a lot of hard work was invested in creating it.
