Kirkham Motorsports started in 1994 with the goal to build the finest replicas in the world. It all began when brothers, David and Thomas Kirkham, were restoring their own Cobra, CSX3104. At the same time, a relative bought and imported a Polish fighter jet. As the brothers looked at the airplane, they could not help but notice the striking similarities between it and CSX3104. They wondered if the people who built the plane could build an exacting replica of a Cobra. When the Polish manufacturer responded positively, a visit to the facility and satisfactory negotiations led to the first KM cars being produced. Kirk Motorsports are recognized as being an engineering-oriented company that has been able to push the performance envelope without forgetting originality.
The car being offered is a 1965 Kirkham Motorsports Shelby Cobra that is beautifully distinguished by its fully-polished alloy body with brushed-alloy stripes that is fabricated by Kirkham and carries chassis number KC7BSLC0538. The Kirkham Cobra is promoted to the legions of Cobra aficionados as “The most beautiful and accurate aluminum body replicas. Period.” Since inception, this well-respected constructor has built over 800 replica 427 and 289 Cobras.
All of the best available components are said to have been utilized and features most of the options offered. The roadster has less than 50 miles on its odometer. The heart of this car is a Keith Kraft aluminum big-block 482-cid Ford V-8 engine that produces a mind-warping 608 horsepower. This powerful unit is matched to a Tremec TKO 600 five-speed manual transmission; further components consist of polished stainless steel side pipes, 42-gallon fuel tank, quick jacks and Kirkham Motorsports alloy radiator tank. Other desirable features include adjustable seat tracks, double rollbars, driver’s fresh-air vent system, hood scoop, Cobra badging and the dash is signed by the late Carroll Shelby.
