The Javelin was completely restyled for 1971. Mark Donohue, who led the Penske team to the 1971 SCCA Trans Am series championship and was an outstanding engineer, was largely responsible for these noticeable cosmetic changes, namely to the grille, hood and rear spoiler. The AMX presented here, is powered by the 225 horsepower, 360 cubic inch engine and comes with the very rare four-speed manual transmission. The car presents very well and has a fresh cosmetic restoration with a light mechanical freshening. It features a posi-traction rear end, AMC 15-inch rallye wheels, T-stripes, rear deck-mounted spoiler, center console, solid freeway gears, Go-Pack, a dual snorkel and a dual vinyl top. This example is certainly not a run of the mill car and would be home to any great muscle car collection.
