When Oldsmobile launched its all-new “personal luxury car” in the fall of 1965, the Toronado became an instant icon as Motor Trend’s Car of the Year for 1966. As the first front-wheel drive car produced in America since the Cord 810/812 of the 1930s, the Toronado was Oldsmobile’s luxurious counterpart to Cadillac, with unique styling and the attitude of a muscle car. For 1968, the Toronado received a minor restyling with an aggressive grille and dual inlets while maintaining its famous barrel-roll speedometer.
The example offered here is a fully customized example that features “Fly Yellow” paintwork matched to a custom black and yellow leather and ultra-suede two-tone interior. It features custom wheels and an upgraded and freshly rebuilt drivetrain, now showing only 1,900 miles since its original build. A show and go head-turner awaiting you for the next cars and coffee gathering.
