This is an iconic BMW coupe. In factory nomenclature, “E9,” the BMW 3.0 CS Coupe, was a Karmann-built two-door based on the New Class 2000CS. Enlarged to accommodate the M30 engine from the E3 sedan, it had appeared first in 2.8-liter guise. In all, 7,935 were built from 1971 to 1975; with 2,741 in 1973. A 3.0 CSL special homologation version for the European Touring Car Championship competition enhanced BMW’s reputation as a manufacturer of sporting automobiles.
This particular car is a nicely restored example that is powered by the 182.2-cid, 200-hp inline six-cylinder engine and mated to a four-speed manual transmission. It also has Bosch D-Jetronic fuel-injection.
The Inca Orange paint is fresh and uncommon, and it is nicely complemented with a new black interior. This exciting sport coupe has a sunroof and rare factory air conditioning. Alpina turbine-style alloys are the wheel of choice on this respected model.
