The best-known products of the British Standard Motor Company in America were the sturdy Triumph sports cars of the 1950s to 1970s. Long forgotten is the fact that a range of tiny Standard cars was briefly marketed here in the late 1940s. This left-hand drive Standard Eight is one of them.

Well-used but solid, it has had its top and upholstery replaced at some point, and been re-painted in blue and white. It is equipped with the iconic British “trafficator” semaphore directional signals and a six-volt radio. Jaunty and fun, it will require a full restoration to be at its best, but its new owner is unlikely to ever meet another on the road.
