From the time that the Big Three made power accessories available on low-priced cars in the mid-1950s, most top-line models were sold with power steering, power brakes and, often, power windows. Automatic transmissions were nearly de rigeur. That’s why it’s unusual to see a car like this one, an upper-echelon Galaxie whose only accessories are seat belts, an AM radio and a clock.
A clever use of wide wheel trim rings with basic “dog dish” hubcaps saves the car from excessive plainness, assisted in part by narrow whitewalls on the 14-inch tires. It is in very good condition throughout, suffering only a mild stain on the headliner in the left C-pillar. The person who covets the unusual will love it.
