The thundering Shelby Cobra is unquestionably one of the most important American performance icons of the 20th century. Rooted in the brilliant racing career and boundless grit of its creator, Carroll Shelby, the Cobra singlehandedly vaulted Ford Motor Company’s “Total Performance” corporate racing program onto the international stage and marked a crucial step in Ford’s eventual dominance over archrival Ferrari at LeMans during the 1960s.

This particular Cobra is one of the select “continuation” cars that was branded and put out by Shelby American in recent years. Since the Cobras of the 1960s are becoming more and more valuable, it only made sense for Shelby to allow exacting duplicates to be produced. The last of the 427 Cobras ended with vehicle identification numbers in the 3000s, so Shelby continued production with these cars beginning with CSX 4000. This car was built utilizing an aluminum body like the originals and has a 427 motor that was hand built by Shelby Enterprises. This is a true Cobra and the closest one could be to one that was finished in the 1960s.
