384-cid, 120-hp at 3,200-rpm straight eight cylinder engine, three-speed manual transmission, front and rear semi-elliptic leaf springs and four-wheel servo-assisted mechanical drum brakes. Wheelbase: 145-inches

Entering the classic era, Packard was the dominant player, selling more cars in the luxury car market than all its competitors combined. No other manufacturer since has enjoyed such a commanding lead. Even Packard advertising reflected their success, promoting the company’s products with elegant ads featuring the gates of mansions through which “Packards have passed” for 20 years or more. Packard’s slogan “Ask the man who owns one” is considered a classic example of good advertising that delivered the message concisely and truthfully. Utilizing Packard’s newly developed eight-cylinder engine, the 645 was introduced in 1929 with approximately 20 different body styles to choose from.

The example offered here has benefited from an older restoration that has mellowed with age and storage. It is complete with wind wings, luggage rack, driving lights, cowl lights, driver’s side spotlight, dual sidemount spares with mirrors, Jaeger 8-Day Clock, rear folding windshield, foot rests, and cigarette lighters. It is in need of a thorough freshening prior to being able to run and drive and examination is encouraged for those potentially interested in returning this open Packard to its previous glory.
