- 35 x 14.5 x 8 in.
This 1:6 scale model of the Lancia D50 is a highly authentic re-creation of the formidable race cars that gave the otherwise dominant Mercedes-Benz stiff competition in the 1954 and 1955 Formula One World Championships, and which two-time World Champion Alberto Ascari drove to victory in Naples and Turin. Like the originals, it is exquisitely made with seemingly no regard for expense. The beautifully crafted metal bodywork, replete with exposed rivets, is astoundingly faithful to the original, as are the many jewel-like details, including the working suspension, impressive wire-spoked wheels shod with treaded tires, polished fuel fillers, wood-rimmed steering wheel, and upholstered bucket seat. Offered from the collection of noted auto enthusiast, the late Gordon Apker, it has remained on display under glass within his collection for 25 years or more. It measures 35 inches long by 14.5 inches wide by 8 inches tall, minus the windscreen.
