The Mercedes-Benz W180 featured a 2,195-cc inline six-cylinder engine with a four-speed column-shift manual transmission as standards. They were available as a sedan, coupe and cabriolet and were built from 1954 to 1959. The models associated with the W180 chassis code were the 220a and 220S. The W180 was one in a series of Mercedes-Benz models to be commonly referred to by the "Ponton" moniker. This was in reference to the unibody-type construction that resulted in a pontoon-shaped exterior styling and was later seen W128 line.

This red with tan interior example is reported as being refurbished with the interior restored by having the seats reupholstered, new carpet, new headliner and all wood, including the dash, has been refinished. This particular car has a “Webasto” folding top that is seen mentioned as being rare for this model. The car has been described as “turn-key ready” and comes with the inherent Mercedes-Benz quality that has always been a part of their rich traditions.
