Perhaps the most revered hydroplane builder was Henry Lauterbach, a racing champion 50 years ago and the builder of many of the greatest prop riders. This hydroplane was heavily-campaigned in the American Power Boat Association’s Grand Prix racing circuit, GP-111 is a Lauterbach-designed hydroplane that was completely rebuilt in 2007-2008. It is powered by a rebuilt, blown big-block 454-cid Chevrolet V-8 and is a turnkey boat, ready to race. Included in the sale is a custom-built tilt trailer with fuel tank/pump unit and built-in tool boxes. In the late-1970’s this boat was owned and raced by Advance United owner Henry Wines. This is a boat that has participated in numerous antique race boat regattas. This is a fun way to enjoy a vintage boat, much in the same manner as a vintage race car. There are no judges, trophies, winners or losers – just enthusiasts getting in their boat and running it for pleasure.
