This rolling chassis is one of three built by George Morris for the George Walther Dayton Steel Wheel team. It has original paint, Halibrand wheels, Firestone Indy 500 tires, Joe Baker shifter mechanism, brake calipers, springs and hubs. George Morris was a well-respected ex-driver and mechanic who had previously been involved with Ted Halibrand in the building of the Shrike Indy Car. After years with Walther, he worked with Dave Laycock building the Mongoose chassis. A cockpit area chassis tube carries USAC tag #C-71 177.
