This one-of-three Morris Marauder is a fairly complete and correct car. The Ford four-cam is fitted with a Hewland LG 500 gearbox, Air Research turbocharger and pop-off valve. The engine has compression and the gearbox has internals. The Morris has period correct Halibrand wheels fitted with period correct Firestone Indy 500 tires. The car has a Joe Baker shift mechanism, Smiths and Borg-Warner gauges, brake calipers, hubs, radiator, oil tank and more. The car is not plumbed, the pedals are not connected, and it is missing its front and rear sway bars; plus it is missing at least one water swirl-pot.

One of the Morris/Walther cars was the first alternate in the 1970 Indy 500 with Kevin Bartlett driving. The famed Peter Revson ran a Morris Marauder for Walther early in the month of May in 1970 before moving to a recently vacated Team McLaren seat. This move categorically changed the course of Revson’s career.

George Morris was a well-respected ex-driver and mechanic who had previously been involved with Ted Halibrand in the building of the Shrike Indy Car. After years with Walther, he worked with Dave Laycock building the Mongoose chassis.
