268 bhp, 3,498 cc dual-overhead cam V-6 engine, seven-speed automatic transmission, four-wheel coil spring independent suspension, and four-wheel anti-lock power disc brakes. Wheelbase: 94.5", Fewer than 25,000 miles, A new generation roadster, the SLK Class was introduced by Mercedes-Benz in 1997. Designated the R170 platform, its acronym meant Sportlich, Leicht, Kurz (sporty, light and compact). Aimed at the competing Porsche Boxster and BMW Z3, the SLK was named one of the Ten Best by Car & Driver. A nifty feature was its retractable hard top, which preceded those of Peugeot, Lexus, Pontiac and Chrysler. For 2005, the SLK got some new bodywork and more power. Designated R171, it was offered with 1,796 cc supercharged four and V-6s of 2,996 and 3,498 cc, both normally aspirated. Both automatic and manual transmissions received an additional speed, to seven and six, respectively. Car & Driver put it through a four-car comparison test, giving it a full “10” for handling and marveling that it “nips the heels of a Porsche.” Showing fewer than 25,000 miles, this 2006 SLK350 is equipped with the superb seven-speed automatic transmission and presents well despite a few cosmetic imperfections, namely a crack in the chin spoiler. The aftermarket three-piece Brabus wheels are a desirable and rather pricey addition and certainly add to the sporty flair of the car’s McLaren-Mercedes-inspired lines. To quote Car & Driver, it is “light on its feet, tight in the structure, and immensely responsive to a driver's whims.” The car’s original factory VIN tag could not be located in the typical location, but the digits 1S9MR31T06206001 are affixed to the windshield. CarFax did not recognize this VIN and therefore could not produce a report for this car. Please note that this vehicle is offered on a bill of sale only.
