A Classic Era design and engineering masterpiece, the Dueseberg Model J continues as the standard by which history’s finest automobiles are judged today. The object of the expression “It’s a Real Duesy” and the car whose announcement halted activity on the trading floor of the New York Stock Exchange, the mighty Model J remains among the most coveted and collectible automobiles ever produced.

Offered from a prominent private automobile collection, this majestic example from 1932 features iconic Dual-Cowl Phaeton coachwork in the style of LeBaron and a particularly fascinating history. Reportedly, it was involved in a collision during the early 1930s and evaluated as being too costly to repair. As such, it was placed into long-term storage, where it remained until having been unearthed and rescued in the 1980s by the late Rick Carroll.

It was then completely restored to its period splendor, with no expense spared. The quality of its restoration was confirmed by the achievement of AACA Senior National honors in 1990, as well as serving as the feature subject in numerous publications, including the January 1991 issue of the AACA’s Antique Automobile magazine and “The Mightiest American Car” by J.L. Elberts.
