Mercury’s Turnpike Cruiser was a new “ultimate” model, a Lincoln-like luxury automobile introduced for 1957 with elaborate chrome trim and nearly all available options as standard equipment. This example, from The Shrine of the Holy Grille, was the recipient of an older restoration, finished in the striking original two-tone color scheme, Sunset Orchid over Classic White. Reportedly one of fewer than 50 with factory air conditioning, it is equipped with all of the luxury touches typical to this model, including power everything, memory seats, and the famous reverse-angled rear windshield that opens for flow-through ventilation. It would be a wonderful family cruiser for the new owner, showing off the fabulous Dream Car Design of the 1957 Mercury.
