The 1971 Chevrolet Corvette was touted as a being a beauty with an application of pure design. It was the most extensively aerodynamically tested model that Chevrolet had, to that point, ever offered. Every facet of its design from the subtle front and rear spoilers to the flush-fitting door handles, has been wind tunnel tested and from that refined.

With the 454-cid, 365-hp Turbo-Jet V-8 big-block, like found in this car, you got an engine with an 8.5:1 compression ratio, hydraulic valve lifters, dual-snorkeled air cleaner with a chromed cover, an extra-large oil pan, high-domed hood, larger diameter front stabilizer bar, heavier duty rear wheel spindle support arms, rear suspension stabilizer bar, larger capacity radiator, dual pulleys for the fan and water pump, plus a higher performance starter motor.

We are offering what is reported as a “highly original" big-block Corvette convertible that is powered by the 454/365 LS5 engine; this particular Corvette is stated to be a terrific performer. With 465-lb/ft of torque and a Turbo 400 automatic transmission, plus the standard four-wheel disc brake system, this Vette can do it all. The Corvette is finished in War Bonnet Yellow (code 989) over Saddle leather (420). This car features factory air conditioning (C60), power windows (A31), power steering (N40) and AM/FM radio (U69). With a black convertible top, this Corvette looks terrific from every angle.

According to reliable sources; in 1971, Chevrolet produced a total of 21,801 Corvettes - 14,680 coupes and 7,121 convertibles. Taking into account both body styles, 3,706 left the factory in War Bonnett Yellow and 5,097 (both styles) were powered by the LS5 engine at a $295.00 option price.
