The Japanese “Fairlady Z” sports car was always a big hit in its native country, but possibly an even bigger hit in the United States. From the inception of this car it was sold in the U.S. under the Datsun name until 1984. Yutaka Katayama was president of the Nissan Motors operations in the USA, and was the main reason behind the Z being imported to the U.S. so quickly.
