All of the Oldsmobile Starfires were manufactured in Lansing, Michigan and the known total production number is 7,800. Oldsmobile introduced the Starfire as a separate model series in January 1961. The Starfire was a sports variant at the top-of-the-line Olds 98 series from 1954 through 1957. It then reappeared in 1961 as a limited production convertible, and then for only three years thereafter in both coupe and convertible form. The Starfire featured every available option as standard equipment. This includes power bucket seats upholstered in leather, console, console-mounted tachometer, Hydra-Matic transmission, limited-slip differential; power windows, brakes, steering, antenna and trunk release. Unique to the Starfire are the brushed aluminum side panels and chrome-plated valve covers.
