In the 1961 model year Chevrolet made few revisions on their popular selling Corvette. On the front was a thin, vertical and horizontal bar grille, as opposed to the ducktail rear end that was equipped with four-cylindrical taillights. The exhaust exits below the vehicle as contrary to previously exiting through the bumper ports. Standard equipment included: tachometer, seatbelts, sunvisors, dual exhaust, carpet, electronic clock and an outside rearview mirror. Exterior colors that were available were: black, white, red, maroon, beige and silver. This particular Roadster is painted in Roman Red with a complementary black interior. The wide whitewall tires are quite forgiving and make for a comfortable ride, 1961 was the last year that they were available. This Corvette has the appearance to attract most, but the power to enthrall many.
The Corvette is and has been a household name for many years, that type of reputation persists from years of quality built automobiles. Uniquely defined styling coupled with precise performance and handling made this car popular in many ways. In the 1960s television program “Route 66,” Todd Stiles and Buzz Murdock traveled that iconic U.S. highway in a duck tail Corvette, seeking work, romance and adventure. Not surprisingly, Corvette sales took an upturn as soon as the show came on the air. This is the chance to put yourself behind the wheel of this beautiful automobile and you can enjoy a reprise of 20th Century Americana.
