Since the 1950s, Mercedes-Benz SL has combined iconic styling with technical sophistication and breathtaking performance. From the brilliant 300SL and the stylish 190SL, the concept progressed through the beloved “Pagoda” of 1963-1971, and then the R107, which was produced for nearly 20 years. The fourth-generation SL appeared in 1990, and was initially available in two models: the six-cylinder 300SL, and the V-8-powered 500SL. In 1993, the 600SL debuted, powered by a 6.0-litre V-12 engine with 389 horsepower.

The new SL models featured handsome, angular bodywork in direct contrast to the previous 560SL. Meanwhile, a number of technical advancements improved high-speed control and stability, including electronically controlled dampers, triangular lower control arms with anti-dive geometry, and a multi-link rear axle. Passenger comfort was heightened with standard amenities including power windows, power mirrors, power door locks, and a power trunk release, as well as heated seats and leather upholstery. Safety enhancements included standard anti-lock brakes, airbags, and a rollbar that rose automatically in the event of a rollover.

The 1993 600SL Roadster offered here is very fine representative of Mercedes’ flagship model, powered by the smooth 6.0-litre V-12 engine. With just 54,000 miles accumulated from new, this 600SL comes with new tires, a factory Mercedes-Benz car cover, hardtop cover and the factory hardtop holder. It is loaded with every option and is very clean in presentation with its original paint and all books.
