The 1946 Series 62 Cadillac models are considered by many to be imbued with such carefully prescribed proportions that it is virtually impossible to fault their design. The hood length in relation to the deck is classically correct and the fenders are precisely contoured to complement the body’s design parameters. Glass areas are in balance with the sculpted sheetmetal panels; brightwork is conservative, functional and esthetically positioned.

Only 1,353 convertible coupes were built by Cadillac in 1946 making it a rare car. It is in excellent stock condition with no modifications except for the installation of an electric fuel pump. The first post-war Cadillac models utilized a 346-cid, 150-hp V-8 engine that was coupled to a smooth Hydra-Matic automatic transmission. This example was treated to body-off-frame restoration 25 years ago. After the restoration, the car was bought by Robert Turnquist of Hibernia Auto Restoration. In 1989 he sold the car to a major vintage car collector, Lee Pokoik of South California, who enjoyed it for 16 years. Since then the push button hydraulics were replaced, new bias-ply wide whitewall tires were mounted, and a repaint was completed two years ago. The car has fender skirts, an optional driver’s side spotlight and many power features that include windows, seat, convertible top and radio antenna.
