In 2006 Shelby American and Hertz Corporation decided to resurrect the famous GT 350-H which first appeared in 1966. Marking the 40th Anniversary, Hertz ordered 500 GT-Hs from Shelby and added the car to the Hertz Fun Collection.
This car, #06H0457, was used by Hertz in California for a year and then re-purchased by Shelby American for their executive use, including Carroll and Cleo Shelby. Shelby American modified the car slightly by adding GT 500 wheels, front valance foglights and brake ducts, and deleted the rear bumper stripe.
The GT-H cars as originally modified included a reworked suspension, performance-type exhaust, Ford Racing air intake, Shelby strut-bar brace, performance tuning, higher rear end gear and many styling cues specific to this model like fiberglass hood, gold striping and Hertz badging.
