The 1967 Corvettes command a sweet spot in the market as the favorite of the “mid-year” models, with their clean detail and much of the brightwork and trim that characterized the 1963-66 models removed. But they almost weren’t built. Larry Shinoda’s curvaceous Mako Shark C3 Stingray was supposed to appear in 1967, but it was delayed for a year while designers wrangled over the top design. It helped, of course, that both bodies sat on the same chassis and the new range of engines could fit under either body, so the engineering was already in place.

Anybody who owned one of the troublesome 1968 models would probably rather GM had put off the switch one more year, but in any event, anticipation of the 1968 Corvette may have kept sales of the ’67 down. 22,940 were built versus 27,720 in 1966 and 28,566 in 1968.

Representative of the last of the C2 (1963-1967 Sting Ray) platform, this 1967 Chevrolet Corvette roadster is equipped with a 327-cid, 300-hp V-8 engine with Powerglide automatic transmission. The second-generation beauty is generously equipped with air conditioning, tinted glass, AM/FM radio, telescopic steering column; power windows, steering and brakes. Along with these features, it is wearing factory no-cost Rally wheels and Redline tires to complete a classic Corvette look of the 1960s. The blue exterior finish has an interior that is matching in tone. The classic lines are represented well by this quality-oriented and detailed machine.
