Most manufacturers included the hardtop coupe body style in their top-level series, although, some, like Chevrolet and Ford, offered hardtops in mid-level trim as well. Buick, however, was an anomaly, including a Riviera hardtop coupe in all series. In 1958 this reached new heights, with five different Rivieras available. It is probably not surprising that the lowest-priced Special sold best. It is surprising, however, that the Special Riviera coupe outsold the others by nearly three to one, and was itself the second-most-popular 1958 Buick model.

This 1958 Buick Special Riviera Coupe is a largely original car. It shows barely 34,000 miles, believed to be correct. Painted Laurel Mist, it has its original white and gold vinyl-and-fabric interior, all in very good condition. Equipment includes a pushbutton radio, under-floor heater and windshield washers. It has been fitted with a Flowmaster exhaust system. An uncommonly well-preserved Buick of unusual specification, this car is a rare find.
