The Pulse was designed by Jim Bede (who also designed the Bede line of airplanes) and built by the Owasso Motor Car Company of Owasso, Michigan. The Pulse is essentially a motorcycle with two outrigger wheels attached. Seating two, the advertised fuel consumption of these Autocycles was 100-mpg. It rides on two automotive-style tires and the outriggers are eight-inch diameter wheels hidden below the winglets and because only three wheels make contact with the pavement at a time, the Pulse Autocycle is actually classified as a three-wheeled motorcycle. It steers just like a car with the clutch, brake and gas pedals on the floor. The gearshift; located on the right armrest, shifts sequentially like a motorcycle. This particular Pulse is power by a 400-cc, air-cooled Yamaha engine mated to a six-speed manual transmission. It has recently been repainted to its original yellow color. The Autocycle has a cult-like following and an extremely active owner group that meets annually in Marion, Indiana.
