The One-77 hyper grand tourer was the ultimate expression of an Aston Martin for the 2010s. When the contemporaneous DBS, DB9, Vantage, and Rapide models in the range relied on an aluminium construction, this halo creation was built around a carbon fibre monocoque. The more familiar 5.9-litre V-12 engine was enhanced by Cosworth and enlarged to 7.3-litre capacity. Employing dry sump lubrication to be positioned lower down and further back, this much angrier powerplant delivered 750 horsepower via a six-speed automated-manual transaxle gearbox to return a top speed in excess of 350 km/h.

As a 21st Century Aston Martin, the sculpted aluminium bodywork was truly breath-taking. Exquisite details included the elegant integrated storks supporting the wing mirrors, an active rear wing, glass windows under the rear hatch to expose the fully adjustable, horizontally mounted suspension, plus the carbon fibre lattice structure in the engine bay that not only improved structural rigidity but was also hollowed out to form part of the induction system. Little wonder that the One-77 won the Award for Concept Cars and Prototypes when displayed at the April 2009 edition of the prestigious Concorso d'Eleganza Ville d'Este.

Offered here is the 67th out of 77 examples of the One-77, which was marked complete by the factory on 27 March 2011. Elegantly configured with Blue Pearl White paintwork, the stunning exterior is capped off by 20-inch forged 10-spoke wheels finished in silver that conceal red callipers for the ventilated carbon ceramic brake discs. Meanwhile, the interior blends a black leather-trimmed dashboard and instrument binnacle with red leather for the door cards and red leather seats featuring white stitching, white piping, plus black and white inserts. Alongside, the statement Aston Martin “waterfall” centre console is specified in carbon fibre and surrounded by exquisite red hide. Conveniences include a video-supported park assist package, climate control, and satellite navigation.

While the intention was for this car to be delivered to Shanghai, it is believed that Aston Martin instead handed the One-77 over to its Chinese first owner in Germany. Having enjoyed the V-12 on driving tours, they sold the car to a new keeper in Germany in 2016. Two years later, the One-77 took up residency in a private Swiss collection prior to being bought by the vendor in 2023. In October of that year, with the car noted at 2,653 kilometres, Aston Martin Geneva of the Pegasus Automotive Group performed a comprehensive vehicle check and service, plus fitted a new set of Pirelli P Zero Corsa tyres. The accompanying invoice (available to view on file) totalled 16,848 Swiss francs. Sparingly driven thereafter, the odometer displayed a mere 2,744 kilometres at the time of cataloguing.

Followed since by the more track-honed Vulcan and mid-engined Valkyrie, the One-77 remains the most exclusive and most desirable limited-series Aston Martin grand tourer ever conceived. The opportunity to own this sparingly driven and beautifully specified example, which would surely rank as a highlight of any car collection, is not to be missed.
