Though perhaps understated in the off-roading community, Mercedes-Benz is no stranger to constructing some of the world’s most formidable off-road vehicles, and their legendary ‘G-Wagen’ certainly takes the cake as one of their most popular. Upon development of the car in the 1970s as a strict military vehicle, Mercedes-Benz would later offer a civilian-model for those wishing to explore the most difficult terrain on earth. To ensure the dignity of its car would sound no less than those of its competitors such as the Land Rover and Land Cruiser, the car was christened the “Geländewagen” or terrain-vehicle.

This particular example speaks true to that name. Finished in the fitting colors of Military Green over a black quilted interior and featuring the ‘black out’ military finish, this 250 GD was the beneficiary of a recent professional frame-off restoration. Powering the car is a strong, 90 hp 2.5-liter inline five-cylinder engine mated to a manual transmission. When walking around the exterior, one is greeted with a rear-mounted spare wheel along with a matching-exterior jerry can, necessary for long journeys. When moving into the interior, quilted seats and door panels enhance the utilitarian nature of the car and provide supreme comfort for the driver and passengers when off-road.

It is important to distinguish that this example is a true Wolf edition, something of which was only available in two countries during the time of its production. Further, the car retains its factory differential-lockers.

Ticking nearly every box for the Mercedes off-road enthusiast, this is a must-have car and would be a fine addition to any garage.
